CHICO — Managing algae with… bubbly water? A research project funded by UC Davis aims to test the performance of air diffusers that will be installed at California Park Lake in Chico to help manage algae blooms. On Wednesday, the research team set up equipment at the lake and took measurements from a boat to measure circulation patterns caused by the air diffusers. Research Project Manager and Laketech President Eli Kersh said phosphorus accumulation in lakes can cause algae, which can sometimes be harmful, to bloom rapidly.
